On This Day.

A free verse poem, Tony Malzone

Blue skies. Sunny. Above was what nobody saw coming. A day of terror, igniting our darkest nightmare. A month old, bright-eyed, unknowing I was. Unknowing of what was, the world I was born into, and what it was set to turn into. That day we were all this, but this place was on their hit list. A world I didn’t know yet, a world torn apart and broken. Trained here in our deserts, under the sun, they waited for the day, 911. What ensued, a day of misery, isolation, and solitude. In the depths of our spirits, we found what was left. We lifted each other up and paid our respects. We’ll never forget, the ones we laid to rest, on this day 9/11, We will never forget.
