Your Voice, Empowered.

A free verse poem, Tony Malzone

To the ones who sleep on our streets tonight. I hope one day we’ll see your humanity. I hope one day we’ll be able to fix the broken homes, addictions, and poverty. The greed we follow as creed created markets that are unfair to the ones in need. Commodified human needs are exactly what I’m talking about, indeed. If humanity is a community, then why don’t we live more communally? We put up walls around our house, gated communities, and all kinds of ways to keep others out. But we’re one of the same, damn, when will we realize segregation is so lame. The ones who control the markets are exactly to blame. Complain about crime rates and bad policies, but never make measures to improve our social economy. We’re the United States of America, and we’re the ones talking. Talking about how bad other countries are when our own people struggle to make it far. This country is great, we have opportunity and diversity, but we also have a lot more on our plate. The point is the past is the past and the future is ours. Speak up for what you believe and let your voice empower.
